Recent Closings: Shabu Square, Cafe Latino, T-Rex Taqueria , and More

Over the past couple of months, the Boston area has seen its share of restaurant openings, but also a few very notable closings (Great Bay, for instance, as well as Aujourd'hui and Icarus, both of which will soon be closing). In addition there have been several closings that have happened rather quietly, a few of which we will mention here.

Harvard Square has seen a couple of restaurants shut down recently, with both being located on Eliot Street--Shabu Square, an Asian hotpot place, and Greek Corner, a second location of a popular Greek dining spot (the original on Mass. Ave. remains open). A short distance up the road in Davis Square, Somerville, Green Tomato 2 on Elm Street has closed its cafeteria-style restaurant (the original Green Tomato is still open in Reading). Across the Charles River in Brookline, T-Rex Taqueria, a Mexican dining spot on Washington Street in Brookline Village, is gone. And in the Government Center area of Boston, Cafe Latino, a tiny Latin American place in Center Plaza that focused mostly on takeout, has apparently been replaced by a Greek restaurant.

Thanks to several sites for bringing these closings to our attention, including Chowhound, the Brookline Tab blog, and Somerville Voices.

If you know of any recent restaurant openings or closings, please contact us at the Boston's Hidden Restaurants site to let us know. Thanks!
