Obrien's Bakery Is Coming Back To Quincy

A recently-closed bakery in the Wollaston section of Quincy that featured Irish brown bread and soda bread may be coming back to the city, though in a different location. According to an article in the Patriot Ledger and Wicked Local, O'Brien's Bakery is looking to reopen on Vernon Street, which is located in an industrial section of South Quincy a short distance northwest of the Quincy Adams T station. The article mentions that the bakery needs to get permission from the city to open in this spot (which used to be home to Freeport Tailors) before it can move ahead with its plans, apparently because of the fact that the space is in an industrial zone.

O'Brien's closed its bakery about a year ago at 9 Beale Street in Wollaston after being in business for more than 30 years. In addition to brown bread and soda bread, the bakery also sold a variety of cakes and pastries.
