According to several sources--including posters on both the Chowhound and Twitter sites--Umami Restaurant and Bar is coming to Beacon Street on the outer edge of Washington Square. The person who is opening Umami had also been behind Khao Sarn, a Thai restaurant on Harvard Street in nearby Coolidge Corner, and it looks like the restaurant will be a high-end Japanese fusion-style dining spot, though it appears that the prices will be reasonable.
No specific opening date has been given yet for Umami, and we have not had a chance to look at a menu for the place yet, so keep checking back for updates. [July 27 update: According to the UrbanDaddy site, Umami is planning on opening late this week.]
