St. Alphonzo's Kitchen in South Boston Has Closed

An eclectic restaurant in South Boston that was located in an out-of-the-way spot just north of the Broadway T stop has closed its doors.

An email sent to us by one of our viewers this week mentioned that St. Alphonzo's Kitchen on A Street has shut down. A check on the restaurant this evening has confirmed this, as a sign in the window indicates that it is no longer in business.

St. Alphonzo's Kitchen started out as Potbellies Kitchen in 2006, eventually changing its name the following year. The restaurant featured a diverse mix of dishes, including pasta, haddock, reuben sandwiches, baked scrod, chicken cutlets, Cubanos, and grilled cheese sandwiches. A favorite of our sister site (Boston's Hidden Restaurants), St. Alphonzo's Kitchen's was featured on that website in this review:

The address for this now-closed restaurant in South Boston was: St. Alphonzo's Kitchen, 87 A Street, South Boston, MA, 02127.
