Ataraxis Tavern in Marblehead Is Closing

It looks like a restaurant in Marblehead that has been in business for less than a year is getting ready to close its doors.

According to their Facebook page, Ataraxis Tavern on Atlantic Avenue is shutting down, apparently because it has not been able to make up for a lack of business in its early days of operation. The restaurant, which opened this past winter, has featured mostly comfort food dishes such as sweet potato hummus, shrimp etouffee, burgers, baked haddock, burritos, and baby back ribs.

Prior to Ataraxis Tavern, the Atlantic Street space was home to a restaurant and bar called Flynnies on the Avenue.

[January 18, 2011 update: According to the restaurant's Facebook page, Ataraxis Tavern is now closed.]

The address for this restaurant was: Ataraxis Tavern, 28 Atlantic Avenue, Marblehead, MA, 01945.

Thanks to North Shore Dish for initially bringing this to our attention.
