Common Ground Cafe in Dorchester Has Closed

An eclectic restaurant in the Lower Mills section of Dorchester that was owned by a confederation of religious communities has closed its doors.

photo of the now-closed Common Ground Cafe, Dorchester, MAAccording to the Dorchester Reporter, the Common Ground Cafe on Dorchester Avenue is shuttered, with a "For Lease" sign in the window. A check on the place has confirmed its closure, and a large dumpster is out front, presumably there as part of the cleaning-out process. The article mentions that the restaurant "temporarily" closed a little more than two months ago, with the Twelve Tribes community (the folks who own the eatery) indicating that it was only closed for renovations. Twelve Tribes subsequently stated that it is indeed closed for good, though the group is looking to reopen elsewhere, possibly somewhere in Dorchester.

The Common Ground Cafe was a dark, cozy dining spot that shared its space with a natural food market (also closed now). The food offered on the menu was mostly healthy and organic fare, including several sandwich options as well as pizza. Our sister site (Boston's Hidden Restaurants) has a featured review on Common Ground, which can be found at the link below.
