A New Restaurant Is Moving into the Alfresco Space in Somerville's Davis Square

It looks like a new restaurant is coming to the eastern edge of Davis Square in Somerville, and it may be moving into the space where an Italian eatery has been.

The Boston Magazine Chowder blog reports (via a Davis Square LiveJournal entry) that Alfresco on Highland Avenue is closed and has its doors and windows papered over, and their phone has been temporarily disconnected. A sign on the front of the place says that the restaurant is closed for minor improvements, while a Craigslist post indicates that a new dining spot is moving into that space, featuring dishes using fresh, organic, and local ingredients, along with local craft beers.

As Chowder implies, it is not known for sure whether this is a re-concept from the Alfresco owners or a new spot from different owners; as soon as we find out more, we will post an update here.

[June 8 update: Grub Street Boston is reporting that Jason Owens (Local 149, Biltmore) is opening a restaurant called M3 in the former Alfresco space. A soft-opening will take place this weekend.]

The address for this space is 382 Highland Avenue, Somerville, MA, 02144.
