Packy Connors in Roxbury to Close, Leaving Blue Hill Avenue with No Bars

Last month we reported that The Breezeway, a drinking establishment on Blue Hill Avenue in Roxbury, was looking to close, leaving the nearly five-mile-long Boston thoroughfare with only one remaining bar. Now it looks like that spot will be closing as well, leaving the avenue with exactly zero bars along its entire stretch.

Universal Hub reports that Packy Connors (also along the Roxbury stretch of Blue Hill Avenue) is hoping to sell its liquor license to an upcoming Asian eatery along the Boston waterfront, with the Boston Licensing Board looking into the matter next week. If the board allows the deal to pass, the Roxbury part of the avenue will join the other parts in Dorchester and Mattapan in being bar-free. (A strictly residential section of Blue Hill Avenue extends into part of Milton as well.)

[May 18 update: The Boston Globe is reporting that Packy Connors' liquor license has been officially transferred to Empire, which is a soon-to-open restaurant on the South Boston waterfront.]

The address for Packy Connors is: Packy Connors, 203 Blue Hill Avenue, Boston (Roxbury), MA, 02119.
