Darden Restaurants to Buy the Yard House

A Florida-based company that operates some of the largest full-service restaurant chains in America is going to be purchasing a small chain of beer-based eateries that has two locations in the Boston area.

The Boston Globe is reporting that Darden Restaurants will buy the Yard House for $585 million, with the purchase likely being completed by November. The Yard House is a slightly upscale group of eateries that features an eclectic mix of Asian and American cuisine and typically offers well over 100 beers on tap. Local outlets of the California-based group of dining spots can be found in the Fenway neighborhood of Boston and Legacy Place in Dedham, with a third coming to Lynnfield late next year.

Darden currently operates such chains as Red Lobster, Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, and The Capital Grille.
