Bertucci's Plans to Open 2ovens in Newton

A few months ago we reported that a local chain of Italian dining spots had closed one of its two locations in Newton, but now we are hearing that the chain plans to open another spot in the city, with this one being a new concept.

The Newton Patch reports that Bertucci's is hoping to open a new eatery called 2ovens on Needham Street, with the 90-seat restaurant featuring two ovens imported from Italy that will be set up in the center of the place. The ovens will be "the only tools used to cook food in the establishment," according to the Patch, with "no microwaves or fryers" in the restaurant. One of the ovens will be used for pizzas, while the other will be used to make both Italian dishes and other items (the article states that this will not be a strictly Italian restaurant).

The Board of Aldermen's Land Use Committee will be holding a public hearing about 2ovens on October 9.

The address for this upcoming restaurant in Newton will be: 2ovens, 300 Needham Street, Newton, MA, 02464.

Thanks to one of our readers for bringing this to our attention.
