DavidsTea Plans to Open in Downtown Crossing, South End, Back Bay

Last month we mentioned that a chain of tea shops based in Canada was apparently planning to open a store in the South End of Boston. Now we have learned that not only has this been confirmed, but that the chain is also looking to open other shops in the city.

The Boston Herald is reporting that DavidsTea is going to be opening at 294 Washington Street in Downtown Crossing and is also looking around the Back Bay for another location as well. These two are in addition to the aforementioned South End store that is on its way to 661 Tremont Street. The Herald says that the Downtown Crossing location should be open before the holidays; there is currently no word on when the South End location might open, or where exactly in the Back Bay the chain is looking for its third location in Boston.

[November 20 update: Eater Boston mentions that the Downtown Crossing location of DavidsTea has opened. The address is 298 Washington Street, Boston, MA, 02108.]

[March 1, 2013 update: The Tremont Street location of DavidsTea is now open.]

In addition to approximately 75 stores in Canada, DavidsTea also has locations in New York City and San Francisco. The stores offer an array of premium loose leaf teas, including exclusive tea blends. Their website is at http://www.davidstea.com/

Thanks to Eater Boston for bringing this to our attention.
