Caswell's Seafood Restaurant in Weymouth Has Apparently Closed

It looks like a seafood spot on the South Shore that has been in business for 40 years has closed.

A poster on the Chowhound site states that last week the owner of Caswell's in Weymouth said the restaurant would be closing "within the week," while several posters on Twitter say that it closed on or just before New Year's Eve. A call placed to Caswell's went unanswered (and there was no voicemail), though their website remains up and running.

Caswell's first opened as Simco in 1972 (changing its name to Caswell's in the 1980s), offering a variety of seafood dishes such as calamari, clams, shrimp, scallops, smelts, and fish and chips. The dining spot also had such non-seafood items as burgers, hot dogs, and corned beef sandwiches on the menu.

The address for this now-closed seafood restaurant in Weymouth was: Caswell's Seafood Restaurant, 380 Washington Street, Weymouth, MA, 02188.
