75 on Cambridge Plans to Open at Former Villa Mexico Site in Boston's Beacon Hill

The person behind several Boston restaurants is looking to open another one in Boston's Beacon Hill neighborhood, and this one would move into the space where a Mexican eatery had been.

The Beacon Hill Times is reporting that Thomas A. Kershaw of the Hampshire House Corporation (75 on Chestnut, 75 on Liberty Wharf, Cheers Beacon Hill, Cheers Faneuil Hall) is planning to open 75 on Cambridge at the former Villa Mexico/Grampy's Gas site, with the proposed Cambridge Street dining spot being looked at by the Beacon Civic Association (BHCA) Zoning and Licensing Committee at some point before the permitting process gets going. If approved, the new restaurant would be on the first floor of a new five-story office building that is on the way, with the article mentioning that  Kershaw has already come to an agreement with C. Talanian Realty Co. Inc. for the space. If all goes as planned, expect a fall 2014 opening for 75 on Cambridge.

Villa Mexico, which was located within the now-demolished gas station, lost its home this winter; the folks behind the spot are looking for a new space for their restaurant and are currently focusing on their catering business (and working on pop-up restaurants) while the search continues.

Thanks to the Boston Hospitality and Tourism Industry Blog for bringing this to our attention.
