Update: Owner of Now-Closed Sushi Island in Wakefield Is Opening Junji Fine Japanese Cuisine in Marblehead

[Ed note: This article was updated on March 13, 2014 to reflect new information given, including a name for the restaurant.]

A couple of months ago we reported that a Japanese restaurant in a northern suburb of Boston was closing. Now we have learned that the owner of the now-shuttered eatery is opening a new dining spot on the North Shore.

The Marblehead Patch is reporting that Junji Aoki of the former Sushi Island on Main Street in Wakefield is seeking a common victualler's license for a restaurant that would be at the site of the now-closed Joey's D's on Pleasant Street in Marblehead. No name appears to have been given for the dining spot as of yet, nor is there any indication of what type of cuisine the place would be offering. When Sushi Island closed in August, it was mentioned that Aoki had indeed been looking into possibly opening a smaller restaurant in a new location.

[March 14, 2014 update: A Chowhound poster says that the new restaurant will be called Junji Fine Japanese Cuisine, and it is beginning a pre-opening tonight. The dining spot's Facebook page indicates that it will serve sushi as well as Japanese entrees.]

The address for this restaurant is 114 Pleasant Street, Marblehead, MA, 01945.

Thanks to North Shore Dish for bringing this to our attention.
