Barcelona Restaurant and Wine Bar Is Opening in Boston's South End

It looks like the folks behind a number of Spanish tapas restaurants/wine bars and taquerias/tequila bars will be opening a second Boston-area location of their tapas spot.

Eater Boston has confirmed the rumor that BosGuy mentioned last month, that Barcelona Restaurant and Wine Bar is planning to open in the former Sibling Rivalry space in the South End of Boston. (Sibling Rivalry closed in April after being in business for approximately 10 years.) According to EB, the lease was signed for the eatery last week, with a possible opening coming later next year depending on how things go. Once it does open, the new Barcelona Restaurant and Wine Bar will join an existing location on Beacon Street in Brookline, along with other locations in Connecticut, Washington, DC, and Atlanta. (The group also operates BarTaco, which has locations in Connecticut and New York.)

[December 18 update: According to an article in Thrillist, the new location of Barcelona in the South End could be opening in the spring of 2014, not later in the year as had been previously thought.]

[January 27, 2014 update: According to a page on the City of Boston website, the folks behind the now-closed Sibling Rivalry have petitioned to transfer their liquor license to Barcelona, with the hearing taking place this Wednesday.]

[December 12, 2014 update: BosGuy mentions that the new Barcelona has soft-opened, with an official opening coming very soon (no specific opening date yet).]

[December 14, 2014 update: A new post from BosGuy indicates that Barcelona is now open in the South End.]

The address for this new Spanish tapas restaurant and wine bar in the South End is 525 Tremont Street, Boston, MA, 02116. Its website can be found at http://www.barcelonawinebar.com/
