Beer Garden Coming to The Arsenal on the Charles in Watertown

A brand new beer garden is coming to an historic site along the Charles River just west of the Boston line.

According to an article in the Watertown Tab and Press, the town planning board has approved of a "beer garden restaurant" for The Arsenal on the Charles complex between Arsenal Street and North Beacon Street. The as-of-yet unnamed eating and drinking spot will go into Building 321 (the article says Building 312, but this appears to be an error), which is where a location of Panera Bread and Arsenal Center for the Arts reside, and the group running it has apparently been behind "some of Boston's favorite restaurants for more than 20 years" (the name of the group may come out early next month, according to the post). The Tab and Press says that the new beer garden will have 2,800 square feet of space inside and an additional 4,500 square feet of space outside.

[February 25 update: Eater Boston mentions (via a promotional video from Linx Watertown, a new office building nearby) that the Yard House chain could possibly be the place opening at The Arsenal on the Charles, but a note sent to us from Yard House says "We don't currently have plans to come to Watertown, MA."]

The Arsenal on the Charles site is where a war materials manufacturing and storage plant was first established in the early 1800s; it eventually became home to an army materials and research lab before being redeveloped for civilian use over the past couple of decades.

The address for this upcoming beer garden within The Arsenal on the Charles complex is 321 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA, 02472.
