Friendly's Opens at Logan Airport in East Boston

A local chain of restaurants and ice cream shops that declared bankruptcy a few years ago--and closed a number of its shops--has opened a brand new one, and this location should be popular with people traveling to and from Boston.

The Boston Business Journal is reporting that Friendly's is now open in East Boston at Logan Airport's Terminal A, with the new shop running as a franchise agreement between the ice cream company and Boston Food Concepts. The article says that the 780-square-foot eatery is smaller than most locations, and that its menu includes familiar Friendly's items such as salads, yogurt parfaits, SuperMelts, Big Beef Cheeseburgers, and Fribbles.

The Friendly's chain, which went bankrupt in the fall of 2011 but came out of it in early 2012, has several other shops still open in the Boston area, including locations in Norwood, Peabody, Quincy, Saugus, Stoneham, Sudbury, Waltham, Watertown, and Weymouth. (Interestingly enough, the new Logan Airport location is the only Friendly's shop in the city of Boston.)
