Wegmans to Open at University Station in Westwood October 11

A chain of supermarkets that is slowly expanding through the region has announced an opening date for its next location.

According to a Twitter post from @DGoodison of The Boston Herald, Wegmans will open at University Station in Westwood on October 11 and it is now starting the hiring process for the market. This location of the Rochester-based grocery store has been a long time in the making, with the mixed-use development in which it will reside being stalled for several years before starting up again recently.

Once it opens, the new Wegmans will join other locations in Burlington, Chestnut Hill, and Northborough (which was the first to come to the state back in the fall of 2011). Another location is planned for the Fenway neighborhood of Boston as well, though that one likely will not be opening for awhile.

The website for Wegmans can be found at http://www.wegmans.com/
