En Boca to Open in Former Sandrine's Bistro Space in Cambridge's Harvard Square

Last December, we reported that a renowned French restaurant in Cambridge had gone bankrupt, with the dining spot ultimately closing for good and a new eatery looking to open in its place. Now we have learned a bit more about what will be moving into the space.

According to an article in Cambridge Day, Classic Restaurant Concepts (the group behind The Asgard and The Kinsale) is planning to open a spot called En Boca in the space in Harvard Square where Sandrine's Bistro had been. The post says that the new Holyoke Street restaurant will offer small plates along with full-sized meals, with Classic Restaurant Concepts owner Peter Sarmanian saying that unlike Sandrine's, it is "not French" but will be "along the same lines of quality." If all goes as planned, En Boca should be opening sometime this summer.

[October 28 update: According to a job post from BostonChefs.com, En Boca is planning to open in January of 2016.]

Sandrine's Bistro, which first opened in 1996, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in mid-December, closing its doors forever a bit more than three months later.

The address for the upcoming En Boca is 8 Holyoke Street, Cambridge, MA, 02138.
