Flame Hot Pot and Szechuan Restaurant Is Opening in Cambridge

It looks like a brand new Asian restaurant is coming to Cambridge, and this one will be focusing on spicy hot pot that has a bit of a buzz to it.

Eater Boston is reporting (via a License Commission General Hearing page) that Flame Hot Pot and Szechuan Restaurant is planning to open on Mass. Ave. between Harvard Square and Central Square, taking over the space where the retail shop of Violette Bakers had been until closing last year. (Violette is currently looking for a new space, according to its website.) The article says that the proposed dining spot is looking to serve Chonqing-style hot pot, a spicy version that includes Szechuan peppers which add a buzzing/numbing sensation to the mouth when eaten. Expect to see the 85-seat restaurant be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week if all goes as planned.

[September 18 update: According to a poster on the Chowhound site, Flame Hot Pot and Szechuan Restaurant is now open.]

The address for this new restaurant is 1001 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA, 02138.
