Home Run Cafe May Replace Venetian Gardens in Dorchester

A new restaurant and bar is looking to open a couple of miles south of downtown Boston, and it would be taking over the space where another dining and drinking spot had been for approximately 20 years.

According to a licensing board page within the City of Boston website, Home Run Cafe is seeking to acquire the liquor license of Venetian Gardens in Dorchester's Edward Everett Square area, with the proposed place moving into the Mass. Ave. space if approved. The post indicates that the new restaurant would be a full-service spot with 10 to 14 tables along with a bar that has seating, and that it hopes to have a closing time of 2:00 AM.

Venetian Gardens first opened in the mid-1990s as an Italian-American restaurant that was known for its low prices and old-school atmosphere. It eventually morphed into a dining spot that focused mainly on South American fare.

The address for Venetian Gardens (and the proposed Home Run Cafe) is 1269 Massachusetts Avenue, Dorchester, MA, 02125.
