U2's Trip Through the Boston Area Includes Union Square Doughnuts, Not The Burren

A rumor had been going around that the Irish rock band U2 was possibly going to do a secret show somewhere in the area while in Boston for a string of four concerts over the past week, with The Burren in Somerville being the place most people were talking about. Well, the band never did get to the Davis Square pub, but they did apparently go to Somerville for another reason.

Eater Boston mentions (via the band's Instagram page) that some or all of the group enjoyed a dozen treats from Union Square Donuts on Bow Street, with the Instagram post saying that it was The Edge's breakfast. (And unless The Edge has a huge appetite, it can be assumed that the other band members joined in on the eating.) As EB indicates, the donuts that were purchased included Boston cream pie, maple bacon, and birthday cake, with brown butter hazelnut crunch and sea-salted bourbon caramel possibly being among the others.

U2 played shows at TG Garden in Boston on July 10, 11, 14, and 15.
