Chef Stabbed to Death at P.F. Chang's in Peabody's North Shore Mall

A North Shore restaurant was the scene of a fatal stabbing yesterday evening, and the person who was killed was a chef at the dining spot.

According to an article from CBS Boston/WBZ-TV, a chef at P.F. Chang's at the North Shore Mall in Peabody was stabbed to death in the kitchen area of the restaurant, apparently by another chef at the start of the dinner rush a bit after 5:30 PM yesterday. The post says that 38-year-old Elivelton Dias of Salem was pronounced dead at Salem Hospital, while 23-year-old Jaquan Huston was arrested at his home in Salem. The restaurant chain said in a statement that "Tonight we lost an employee in a tragic incident at our Peabody restaurant. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of our colleague....We will be mobilizing support to provide care to our colleague's family, as well as our fellow employees, during this difficult time. We are also cooperating with local law enforcement as they conduct their investigation."

Huston will be arraigned tomorrow at Peabody District Court, according to CBS Boston.

[August 31 update: Eater Boston mentions (via WCVB) that no motive has been determined in the attack at P.F. Chang's as of yet; the article also says that the restaurant remains closed pending investigation, with ordering and reservation services being disabled.]
