Owner of Now-Closed Watch City Brewing Co. Found Dead on Plum Island

The person who was found dead on a beach north of Boston last weekend was the woman behind a brewery and brewpub in Waltham that closed last year.

According to an article from boston.com, a body was found on a Plum Island beach last Sunday, with the person initially being identified as Jocelyn McLaughlin of Newburyport. The site then discovered that McLaughlin was the name of the 59-year-old woman's ex-husband and learned that she also went by the name Jocelyn Hughes, finding out at that point that she was the owner of the now-closed Watch City Brewing Co. in Waltham. The cause of death has not yet been determined, according to boston.com and other sources.

Watch City Brewing closed its doors in June of 2014 after approximately 20 years in business, with the word initially being that it was shut down for repairs. The Moody Street spot never reopened, however, and an auction took place at the site the following month. (Boston.com says that Hughes subsequently became a franchisee of a location of Craft Beer Cellar in Amesbury.)

The address for Watch City Brewing Co. was 256 Moody Street, Waltham, MA, 02453.
