Oya Cuban Cafe in Malden Has Closed

One of the Boston area's relatively few Cuban restaurants has closed.

According to a poster on the Chowhound site, Oya Cuban Cafe in Malden is no longer in business, with the dining spot's Facebook page confirming this, indicating that the Exchange Street eatery shut down either at the beginning of this month or late last month. The Facebook post also mentions that Oya is looking to move to a new space, though no other information has been given as to where it might go, or when it could possibly reopen.

[October 13 update: A move by Oya now seems to be in question, as a veteran Chowhound poster mentions that a sign in the window at the now-closed Oya says it will have a restaurant liquidation sale on October 27.]

[October 29 update: A new note from the poster on Chowhound indicates that Oya is done, saying that the owner is taking time away from running a restaurant in order to be with his children, and that he may work in hotels for the time being; the owner also says he might look to reopen something in a few years once his children are older.]

Oya Cuban Cafe first opened its doors in February of 2013.

The address for this now-closed Cuban restaurant in Malden was: Oya Cuban Cafe, 121 Exchange Street, Malden, MA, 02148. Its website can be found at http://oyacubancafe.com/
