Caffe Nero Is Opening in Historic Train Station Building in Wellesley Hills

A chain of Italian-style coffee shops based in Europe is going to be expanding into the local area once again, and this time it will open in an historic structure in the western suburbs of Boston.

According to an article in The Swellesley Report, Caffe Nero is planning to open within the old Wellesley Hills railroad station building on Route 9, with the U.S. director for the London-based company indicating that the new shop will retain the historical integrity of the structure, saying that they will try to "treat this building with the respect it deserves." If all goes well, the new Caffe Nero could open sometime this spring, joining others in Boston's Downtown Crossing, the South End, Longwood, and Jamaica Plain, along with a soon-to-open store in Fort Point. [Ed note--now open, along with another in Andover.]

The address for this new coffee shop in Wellesley Hills is: Caffe Nero, 339 Washington Street, Wellesley, MA, 02481. The website for Caffe Nero can be found at http://www.caffenero.com/

[September 7 update: Eater Boston reports that the new Caffe Nero in Wellesley is now open.]
