Coast Cafe in Cambridge Planning to Open Second Location

A tiny Cambridge eatery that is known for its Southern-style fare and soul food dishes is looking to expand.

According to a post about The Coast Cafe from Eater Boston, chef/owner Tony Brooks plans to open a second location within the next year or so, with a source telling us that it looks like the new shop will be located somewhere in the Boston area. The River Street dining spot, which claims to have "the best fried chicken and mac & cheese in New England," first opened in the Cambridgeport section of the city 12 years ago.

As soon as we find out where (and when) the new restaurant from the owner of The Coast Cafe will open, we will post an update here.

[June 9 update: A job post within the bostonchefs.com site mentions that the new location of The Coast Cafe will be opening "within a year," though no address has been given as of yet.]

The address for The Coast Cafe is 233 River Street, Cambridge, MA, 02139. Its website can be found at http://www.coastsoulcafe.com/
