Confirmed: Po Boy in Newton Has Closed

[Ed note: This article was updated on July 8 to reflect confirmation of the restaurant's closure.]

A restaurant that features a food item popular down south appears to be closed.

According to a source, Po Boy in Newton has been shut down possibly for two weeks now, with no signs out front indicating why it is shuttered, while phone calls go answered and do not go to voicemail. Calls placed yesterday and today confirm this, while a couple of posters on Yelp indicate that it was closed during the latter part of June. As soon as we find out what the exact status of the Crafts Street eatery is, we will post an update here.

Po Boy first opened in late 2012, offering Louisiana-style sandwiches with shrimp, oysters, catfish, and chicken options.

The address for Po Boy is 67 Crafts Street, Newton, MA, 02458.

[July 8 update: The Tables section of The Boston Globe confirms that Po Boy has indeed closed for good.]
