Building Housing Lir Irish Pub & Restaurant in Boston's Back Bay Has Been Sold

An Irish pub in the Back Bay of Boston has been sold, and it is not known what the future might hold for the place at this point in time.

According to a post within the bldup.com site, the building housing Lir Irish Pub & Restaurant on Boylston Street was purchased by Talanian Realty Company for $8.8 million, a company that also owns 907 Boylston Street, with the site saying the purchase of the adjacent Lir's presents "a significant development opportunity." It appears that Lir may be safe for the time being, as it has a lease on the building until the end of 2018, though the 903 Boylston Street site adds that Lir has a "below-market lease" and that it will have one five-year option to renew at "fair market value."

Lir is affiliated with three other Boston spots--Crossroads and Globe Bar and Cafe in the Back Bay, and McGann's near North Station.
