Penguin Pizza in Talks to Expand to Dorchester

It looks like an award-winning pizzeria in Boston's Mission Hill/Brigham Circle neighborhood could be opening a second location in another part of the city, though nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

The Dorchester Reporter states that Penguin Pizza is considering a possible expansion to Dorchester, moving into a proposed development on Mass. Ave. just north of Edward Everett Square. The dining spot, which would have approximately 70 seats, would be housed in one of two residential buildings slated to be constructed on/around the site where the Express Motors used car dealership had been, according to an earlier article from the Reporter. The new location of Penguin Pizza probably won't be opening for awhile, as construction isn't expected to start on the complex until June of 2017.

The original Penguin Pizza, which is located on Huntington Avenue, has received much praise over the years, with The Improper Bostonian awarding it best restaurant in the Mission Hill area while CBS Boston included the place among its 2014 picks for best pizza and beer.

[October 20 update: A new article from the Dorchester Reporter mentions that the proposed development on Mass. Ave. has been scaled back to one building with retail space on the ground floor, and while developer Doug George says he has been in talks with Penguin Pizza about opening there, it sounds like it has only been talk at this point and it is not known what might go into the retail space.]
