City of Cambridge May Revoke T.T. the Bear's Liquor License
Last summer, we reported that a now-closed Cambridge nightclub was issued a violation due to nonpayment of its alcohol licensing fee. Now we have learned that the city could be getting ready to take action.
According to a License Commission Hearing Agenda page, the city will be looking at canceling the liquor license for T.T. the Bear's Place, with the notice referring to laws that say if a business is no longer in operation, the license can be canceled/revoked. (The hearing takes place on Wednesday, January 11.)
T.T. the Bear's closed its doors for good in July of 2015 after being in business for nearly 30 years; since its closure, there has been talk of Joseph and Nabil Sater of the adjacent Middle East nightclub taking over the space and opening a new club tentatively called Sonia's, though very little information has come out about these plans of late.
The address for the T.T. the Bear's space is 10 Brookline Street, Cambridge, MA, 02139.
[January 13 update: Wicked Local Cambridge is reporting that the city has given Bonney Bouley (the owner of T.T. the Bear's) three months to find a buyer for the liquor license, at which point the license would be canceled, and it notes that the license doesn't have to be used for the T.T.'s space---it could go to a buyer who is looking to open a spot in another location in Cambridge.]
