Crumbs Closes All Stores, Including in Boston's Financial District; E-Commerce Site Remains

A New York City-based chain of cupcake shops that closed down three years ago only to reopen some of its stores has shut down once again--including its Boston shop.

According to several sources, Crumbs Bake Shop on Federal Street in Boston's Financial District has been locked up and dark for at least a couple of weeks, and a message from the chain indicates that the Boston store--and all others--have shuttered. The message from Crumbs did say that its online business remains in operation and that national shipping for their cupcakes is available via its e-commerce site.

The Crumbs chain initially closed down in the summer of 2014, but some stores soon reopened, including the Federal Street location in Boston. Other shops had once been in the local area as well, including ones at the Prudential Center in the Back Bay and the Natick Mall in Natick.

The address for the now-closed Crumbs Bake Shop in the Financial District was 176 Federal Street, Boston, MA, 02110. The website for Crumbs can be found at http://www.crumbs.com/
