Cucchiello's Bakery in East Boston to Move to Saugus

An Italian bakery in East Boston that has been in business for 70 years is moving to the suburbs--and its current space could become home to a donut chain.

Universal Hub is reporting (via a Facebook post) that Cucchiello's Bakery on Bennington Street is going to move to Saugus, with the plan being to open in a space in Cogliano Plaza on Lincoln Avenue. An earlier article from the East Boston Times-Free Press had mentioned that the space where Cucchiello's Bakery resides may be turned into a location of Dunkin' Donuts, with UH saying this as well, though it does not appear that this has been completely confirmed as of yet. The Facebook post--which is from Michael Cucchiello--mentions that they are also looking for a new home in East Boston as well, but for now, they will be focusing on their upcoming move to Saugus.

Cucchiello's is a neighborhood bakery in Day Square that is known for its breads, pizza, calzones, subs, cookies, cannoli, and more.

[April 7 update: According to an Instagram post, Cucchiello's Bakery is now open in its new home in Saugus.]
