Serafina to Debut Outdoor Space in Downtown Boston

An upscale Italian restaurant in the heart of downtown Boston will soon be joined by an al fresco concept.

According to a press release Serafina is planning to open what is tentatively called Il Giardino at Serafina along Summer Street in the Financial District (the restaurant itself is technically on High Street), with the outdoor lunch and dinner space having communal-style seating for 74 with picnic tables and umbrellas and a full liquor license that will allow diners to have beer, wine, and cocktails with their meals. The new space could be opening sometime in late April--though it will depend on the weather--and outdoor heaters are expected to be added for when the weather is cool.

Serafina opened in the spring of 2015, joining a number of locations in New York and beyond. The restaurant focuses on thin-crust pizza and a variety of other Italian options.

[A Facebook post from Foodservice East mentions that the new outdoor spot at Serafina is now open, though it is not known if it is using the name Il Giardino at Serafina as indicated earlier. A photo from the restaurant shows that the space has greenery, large umbrellas, and--as mentioned above--communal seating.]
