District 45 Is Opening in Former Mildred's Corner Cafe in Lynn

A year and a half ago, we reported that a popular breakfast place on the North Shore had closed, and that a local restaurant group was planning to open a new restaurant in its space. Now we have learned that these plans are still on--and a bit more information is now out.

According to a job post within the Craigslist site, District 45 is getting ready to open soon in Lynn, moving into the space where Mildred's Corner Cafe had been until shutting down in late 2015. At the time of Mildred's closure, it was announced that the Neighborhood Restaurant Group (Local 149 in South Boston, the Biltmore in Newton, Biltmore & Main in Reading, and Article 24 and Bandita Taco & Tequila Bar in Brighton) would be opening a high-end dining spot in the Lewis Street space, and the recent job post now gives the place a name--District 45--and says that it is focused on "Local, Craft, Bold flavors and cocktails with a funky interior design focused on local artists' work."

Mildred's Corner Cafe had been in business for more than 10 years.

The address for the new District 45 is 45 Lewis Street, Lynn, MA, 01902.

[June 30 update: Eater Boston states that District 45 is now open, and that it serves such items as s squash carpaccio, blueberry-braised short ribs, and a fried Fluffernutter sandwich with Nutella drizzle, while also offering beer, whiskey, and cocktails.]
