Blaze Pizza to Open in Former BurgerFi Space by Boston University

A group of California-based pizza restaurants continues to expand into the Boston area, with a new one coming to a space that had been home to a burger spot--and which should be popular with college students.

According to a source, Blaze Pizza is planning to open by Boston University, taking over the space on Commonwealth Avenue where a location of BurgerFi had been. A check on the chain's website confirms that the shop will indeed be opening within the space, while a post within the snagajob site shows that it is now looking to hire a number of workers there. Once it opens, the new location of Blaze--whose investors have included Red Sox chairman Tom Werner and Cleveland Cavaliers basketball star LeBron James--will join others at CityPlace within the State Transportation Building in the Theatre District, Boylston Street in the Fenway, One Canal Park near the CambridgeSide Galleria in East Cambridge, and an upcoming shop in the Vinebrook Plaza in Burlington.

BurgerFi opened by BU in early 2014, with a second opening in West Roxbury later that year. (Both are now closed.)

The address for the upcoming location of Blaze Pizza by BU is 961 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, MA, 02215. The website for Blaze can be found at http://www.blazepizza.com/

[July 27 update: A message from the place indicates that the new Blaze Pizza opens by BU on Thursday, August 3.]
