Patio at Olde Salt House in Cohasset Falls into the Sea; Restaurant Closed for Now

A seafood restaurant on the South Shore is closed for the foreseeable future after a patio collapse.

Wicked Local is reporting that the outdoor patio at the Olde Salt House in Cohasset fell into the ocean this week, as the deck, which sits on a granite seawall, fell apart after years of erosion. The website for the dining spot says that the place is closed while the patio is being rebuilt, but it appears that there had been worries about the outdoor area for awhile now, as it had not yet opened for the season and Building Commissioner Robert Egan said that "Because it was deteriorating, this office sent them a notice that they couldn't open until it was fixed, and they just never got around to it."

The Olde Salt House is part of The Cohasset Harbor Resort, which also includes Brisa, Atlantica, and the Cohasset Harbor Inn. The address for the complex is 44 Border Street, Cohasset, MA, 02025 while the website for the Olde Salt House can be found at http://www.oldesalthouse.com/

[July 21 update: According to an article in Wicked Local, the Olde Salt House in Cohasset is open once again--and its patio is open as well.]
