True North Kitchen + Bar Opening This Summer in Former Kelly's Landing Space in Weymouth

Last fall we reported that a decades-old seafood restaurant on the South Shore was shutting down for good, and it looked like a new dining spot would be opening in the space. Now we have learned a bit more about that place.

According to a job post within the bostonchefs.com site, True North Kitchen + Bar is opening in the old Kelly's Landing space in Weymouth sometime in July, and it will be a "modern American tavern" with "updated comfort food and classic tavern food," with local beers offered as well as wine on tap and "fun" cocktails. The post says that the executive chef of the Bridge Street spot will be Ben Campbell, who comes from no. 9 Park and Atlantica, while the dining area and the bar have been completely renovated.

Kelly's Landing, which first opened in 1979, was named after the now-closed Kelly's Landing in South Boston, which was not related to the place.

The address for this new restaurant in Weymouth is: True North Kitchen + Bar, 159 Bridge Street (Route 3A), Weymouth, MA, 02191.

[August 23 update: True North Kitchen + Bar has not yet opened, but a job post on the Craigslist site indicates that it will debut next week, opening for dinner initially and adding lunch service at the end of September.]

[September 5 update: A new Facebook post from the place indicates that True North Kitchen + Bar has opened, and as mentioned earlier, it is currently open for dinner only.]
