Caffe Nero Is Opening in Concord

A rapidly-growing chain of European-style coffee places continues to expand into the Greater Boston area, with a new outlet now being planned for an historic town west of the city.

According to a post from Linear Retail, Caffe Nero is going to be opening in Concord Center, moving into a space within the historic Friend Block by the corner of Main Street and Walden Street. Once it opens, the new coffeehouse will join a number of locations in and around Boston, though there are currently only three others between Route 128 and Route 495, in Wellesley, Reading, and Andover.

If all goes as planned, Caffe Nero in Concord could debut sometime in the first quarter of 2018.

The address for the new Caffe Nero in Concord Center is 55-57 Main Street, Concord, MA, 01742. The website for the chain can be found at http://www.caffenero.com/

[November 8 update: An article in the Concord Journal mentions that a debate is now taking place about whether Caffe Nero is a fast-food chain, which would apparently violate town bylaws. The post states that both the town building inspector and the owner of the building say that it is not a fast-food chain, while some local businesses think it is.]

[December 16, 2018 update: A Facebook post from the chain indicates that Caffe Nero has officially opened its doors in Concord.]
