Public Kitchen Is Opening in Former Caryn's Space in Wakefield

by Marc Hurwitz

A gastropub is on its way to a Boston suburb that currently has no gastropubs, taking over the space where another dining and drinking spot had been.

According to a job post within the bostonchefs.com site, Public Kitchen is getting ready to open in Wakefield, moving into the former Caryn's Sports Bar & Restaurant on Main Street in the center of town. An earlier article from The Wakefield Daily Item had mentioned that the new place will be an upscale lunch and dinner spot that serves "edgy pub food" and that the owners all have a connection to Giacomo's, an iconic restaurant in Boston's North End that also has other locations in the South End and Melrose.

If all goes as planned, Public Kitchen could be opening in early December.

The address for Public Kitchen is 397 Main Street, Wakefield, MA, 01880.

[December 5 update: A Facebook post from the place indicates that Public Kitchen now has its sign up and that it hopes to open within the next couple of weeks.]

[February 18, 2018 update: The Boston Globe states that Public Kitchen is now open.]
