Chilacates Plans to Open in Roslindale

by Marc Hurwitz

A growing local group of Mexican spots is expanding further into the Boston area, with a new location now being planned for the space where a restaurant and a market had been.

Universal Hub is reporting (via Roslindale Village Main Street) that Chilacates is planning to open in Roslindale, moving into the space on Washington Street where Redd's in Rozzie and Tony's Market were. The new eatery will join existing locations on Centre Street and Amory Street in Jamaica Plain along with upcoming shops in the South End, Mission Hill, and Chestnut Hill, and Chilacates owner Socrates Abreu is also in the process of reopening Grass Fed in JP as well.

Redd's in Rozzie closed its doors this summer while Tony's Market moved to a new location on Washington Street a couple of years ago.

The address for the upcoming location of Chilacates in Roslindale will be 4253-4257 Washington Street, Roslindale, MA, 02131. The website for Chilacates can be found at http://chilacates.mx/
