Royal Bengal in Somerville's Winter Hill Neighborhood Has Closed

by Marc Hurwitz

An Indian restaurant that moved from Cambridge to Somerville a few years ago has shut down.

Eater Boston is reporting that Royal Bengal in the Winter Hill area of the city is no longer in business, though it is not known exactly when the Medford Street dining spot closed (it was still open as of last month). It is also not known what restaurant, if any, might go into its space, so keep checking back for updates.

Royal Bengal had resided in a space on Mass. Ave. near Central Square for approximately 15 years until moving to Winter Hill in the spring of 2014. The restaurant featured a variety of Bengali dishes, including spicy goat meat with rice, chicken stew, and fish with ground mustard sauce.

The address for this now-closed restaurant in Winter Hill was: Royal Bengal, 364 Medford Street, Somerville, MA, 02145.
