Tender Greens to Open at Arsenal Yards in Watertown

by Marc Hurwitz

A California-based group of restaurants that includes a famous backer is opening another Boston-area location, with this one coming to a new complex just west of the city.

According to a press release, Tender Greens is planning to open at Arsenal Yards in Watertown, with the eatery joining two others at Copley Place in Boston's Back Bay and The Street in Chestnut Hill. Based on those two locations--and other outlets, most of which are on the West Coast--expect to see options as soups, salads, sandwiches, and meals with a small salad and a side of vegetables. One of the investors in the Tender Greens chain is Danny Meyer, whose New York-based Union Square Hospitality Group operates the Shake Shack restaurants (a location of Shake Shack is also coming to Arsenal Yards).

The new location of Tender Greens is one of several dining spots coming to Arsenal Yards, with places such as Shake Shack, Condesa Restaurante Mexicano, Pokeworks, and City Works Eatery and Pour House opening there as well. The mixed-use development will be located at the site of the old Arsenal Mall in East Watertown, and it appears that it could be complete by late 2019 or 2020.
