Dandee Donut Factory in Revere Has Closed

The sole Boston-area location of a group of donuts shops with roots in Florida has shut down.

According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, Dandee Donut Factory in Revere is no longer in business, with a Facebook post from the business from over the weekend saying the following:

Bittersweet News from Dandee Donut Factory....After giving it our all serving our loyal customers in Massachusetts, we are closing our Revere location. Thank you to everyone in the Revere community who supported us, enjoyed our fresh donuts, and appreciated our full diner menu. Your smiles and repeat visits meant a lot! The good news? Our donut-making tradition continues strong in South Florida! Come visit us at one of our locations where we've been handcrafting donuts for more than 40 years: • Margate • Deerfield Beach • Pompano Beach (our original location)....See you soon in the sunshine state!

The Revere location of Dandee Donut Factory first opened on Revere Beach Parkway in the early part of 2023; this had apparently been Dandee's second time opening a shop north of Boston, as there had once been a location in Marblehead.

The address for the now-closed location of Dandee Donut Factory in Revere was 1141 Revere Beach Parkway, Revere, MA, 02151. The website for the company is at https://dandeedonuts.com/

S&S Deli in Cambridge Has Closed

Early last month, it was reported that one of the oldest--and best-known restaurants--in Cambridge was closing, and the dining spot has now officially served its final meal.

According to its website, S&S Deli in Inman Square is now closed, confirming what had been heard earlier that its last day in operation was June 7. The owners of the Cambridge Street restaurant, which first opened in 1919, are planning to retire, and as mentioned in an earlier article here, it is possible that a new dining place could be coming to the space at some point, though it doesn't appear that anything has been confirmed as of yet.

S&S Deli was known for such items as cheese blintzes, corned beef and pastrami sandwiches, potato pancakes, chopped liver, knockwurst, and more.

The address for the now-closed S&S Deli was 1334 Cambridge Street, Cambridge, MA, 02139.

Car Crashes into School Street Foods in Lynnfield; Building "Uninhabitable"

A popular restaurant in the northern suburbs of Boston is closed for the foreseeable future after an early-morning car crash over the weekend.

According to an article from NBC10 Boston, Massachusetts State Police indicate that a driver crashed his car into School Street Foods in Lynnfield sometime after 1:30 on Sunday morning after being seen driving erratically on Route 1 north. The article says that Benjamin Robert Pimental of Lynnfield was allegedly driving under the influence when his car crashed into the dining spot and he was arrested for operating under the influence, failure to stop, negligent operation, and other motor vehicle related charges. A Facebook reel from School Street food indicates that the building is "uninhabitable" and whether the restaurant can reopen is to be determined.

The car crash comes on the heels of a location of School Street Foods in Methuen recently debuting, and that location is open for business.
