[Ed note: This article was updated on March 13, 2014 to reflect new information given, including a name for the restaurant.]

A couple of months ago we reported that a Japanese restaurant in a northern suburb of Boston was closing. Now we have learned that the owner of the now-shuttered eatery is opening a new dining spot on the North Shore.

When Sushi Island closed in August, it was mentioned that Aoki had indeed been looking into possibly opening a smaller restaurant in a new location.

[March 14, 2014 update: A Chowhound poster says that the new restaurant will be called Junji Fine Japanese Cuisine, and it is beginning a pre-opening tonight. The dining spot's Facebook page indicates that it will serve sushi as well as Japanese entrees.]

Yannalfo's to Open in Marblehead

It looks like a new Italian restaurant is on its way to the North Shore.

A job post on the Craigslist site indicates that Yannalfo's will be opening soon in Marblehead, and that they are currently looking for a cook and some servers. The post mentions that the eatery will have a capacity of 50, and it will be a casual spot that is open for dinner seven days a week.

No specific opening date has been given for Yannalfo's as of yet, nor is there an exact address for the place; as soon as we find out more about the restaurant, we will post an update here.

Update: Pellino's Ristorante in Marblehead Closes; Yannalfo's to Replace It

[Ed note: This article was updated on May 29 to reflect new information on the former Pellino's space.]

A couple of weeks after we reported that a new Italian restaurant had officially opened its doors in the North End of Boston, it has been learned that the original North Shore location of the eatery has closed, and another Italian dining spot will be moving in.

An article in the Marblehead Patch reports that Pellino's Ristorante on Washington Street in Marblehead has shut its doors, with the owner indicating the main reason for its closure being the opening of its new North End spot on Prince Street. The article quotes the owner as saying that "We've opened a second establishment in the North End of Boston and the reason I closed is because I lost two key employees, a cook and a manager," which led to him to come to the conclusion that "There was no way I could have had both open at the same time." The Patch states that someone has expressed interest in taking over the Washington Street space.

[May 29 update: A more recent article from the Marblehead Patch indicates that Yannalfo's will open up in the former Pellino's spot, with a possible opening sometime next month. The article says that the new restaurant will likely be a bit more affordable than Pellino's had been, though work is still being done to the menu and the chef is not yet in place.]

The address for the now-closed Pellino's (and soon-to-open Yannalfo's) is 261 Washington Street Marblehead, MA, 01945.

Thanks to North Shore Dish for bringing this to our attention.

According to a springtime article from North Shore Dish, customers order at the counter at Hooked and, if dining in, have their food brought to them. Various News: La Posada, Ataraxis Tavern, CnDs Barbeque Grille

A few brief updates on more new restaurants in the Boston area:

It looks like a Mexican restaurant called La Posada will apparently be moving into the spot on Mass. Ave. in Arlington Heights where the restaurant section of Something Savory used to be (Something Savory is still open as a caterer). Very little is know about this restaurant as of now, but we're working on getting some updates on the place. Thanks to both a poster on our Facebook fan page and a person who works in the neighborhood for letting us know about La Posada.

A restaurant and bar on Atlantic Avenue in Marblehead called Flynnies on the Avenue is being replaced by a new spot called the Ataraxis Tavern. According to another one of our Facebook posters, the new restaurant and watering hole will feature comfort food, and may be opening this weekend. According to a selectmen's minutes page on the Marblehead Reporter/Wicked Local site, hours for the Ataraxis Tavern will be 9:00 AM to 12:00 AM seven days a week.

It appears that Wakefield is home to a new BBQ spot. According to one of our sources, CnDs Barbeque Grille recently opened on Water Street, bringing to this northern suburb of Boston a place for pulled pork, chicken wings, ribs, and more. Located just east of Main Street (by the railroad tracks) in the center of Wakefield, CnDs Barbeque Grille looks to be a small spot that focuses on takeout.

Thanks to everyone who helped up piece this article together. Again, as we receive updates, we'll be sure to post them here.
