Bus Stop Pub in Allston Is Closing

by Marc Hurwitz

Last month, we had reported that yet another Boston dive bar may eventually be shutting down, though at the time, it appeared that it would remain open for the time being. Now we have learned that the end is indeed near for the place.

According to a Facebook post from owner Joyce Hynds, the Bus Stop Pub in Allston closes for good on Saturday, May 12, with Hynds saying that "Saying goodbye is always hard, however...it is time....We hope that we'll see you stop by in the next few days. Tomorrow is Prime Rib Thursday and Friday is Fish Day....We will miss every one, it is [an] end to an era!" Earlier, it had been noted that much of the property surrounding the bar was being looked at for development by Mugar Enterprises, based on a bldup.com page.

The address for the Bus Stop Pub is 252 Western Avenue, Allston, MA, 02134.

[May 21 update: According to a notice from E.F. Smith & Sons, the Bus Stop Pub will be holding an auction on Wednesday, May 23, at 11:00 AM.]
