Privus Lounge in Allston Closing

A sleek, upscale lounge in the heart of Allston will be closing within the next week after being in business for about two years.

According to an event posting on the Facebook site, Privus Lounge on Brighton Avenue will be shutting its doors on Sunday, May 2. Privus is affiliated with The Kells, a bar and nightclub next door to Privus which is going to be closing as well. [May 16 update: Just to confirm, Privus has closed.]

Privus Lounge has been known as a place to go for sushi, cocktails (including martinis and drinks with sake), and dancing. The menu at Privus also included tempura, teriyaki, shumai, and a particularly popular Korean fried bon chon chicken. According to an article in the Cambridge Chronicle and Wicked Local, this last dish will continue to be served at a new Korean restaurant in Harvard Square called Bull, a place whose co-owner has also been behind Privus Lounge.

The address for Privus Lounge was: Privus Lounge, 161 Brighton Avenue (just west of Harvard Avenue), Allston, MA 02134.
