Cakes Bakery and Cafe in Arlington Has Closed

A trio of Boston-area bakery-cafes is now down to two, as its Arlington location has closed its doors.

According to their Facebook page, Cakes Bakery and Cafe on Mass. Ave. is now shuttered, with the post mentioning that "The Health Department ordered repairs to the fire alarm system that we just can't afford." A check on the space, which is a few blocks west of Arlington Center (and just west of the Jason Street/Mill street intersection) indicates that a "For Rent" sign is now in the window.

Cakes Bakery and Cafe first opened in Arlington in November of 2010, featuring an array of baked goods, sandwiches, pastries, coffee, tea, and more. The original Cakes Bakery is located on Eliot Street in Milton, while another shop can be found on Galen Street in Watertown.

The address for this now-closed bakery-cafe in Arlington was: Cakes Bakery and Cafe, 795 Massachusetts Avenue, Arlington, MA, 02476. The website for Cakes is at: http://cakesmilton.com/

The Watertown location is also closed. There's a "for lease" sign in the window.
