Yogurtland Is Coming to the Boston Area

Attention, Bostonians: Get ready for even more frozen yogurt.

The Boston Business Journal is reporting (via a Business Wire news release) that a California-based frozen yogurt chain called Yogurtland is looking to expand into the Boston area, with approximately 20 locations on the way. The BBJ article mentions that Yogurtland, which is headquartered in Irvine, focuses on the concept of self-service frozen yogurt. The company opened its first shop in 2006, with more than 190 locations now open in the United States, Mexico, and Guam.

[June 4, 2013 update: The restaurantnewsrelease.com site states that Yogurtland has opened its first Boston-area location at 273 Harvard Street in Brookline, with more on the way in the next month, including shops in Boston's Back Bay (Newbury Street), Harvard Square in Cambridge, and Newton Centre.]

The Boston area has seen a large number of frozen yogurt shops open up over the past few years, with both chains and independent places opening in and around the city.
