Woodward at Ames in Boston Is Closing

Last year we reported that an upscale restaurant and bar that is located within a downtown Boston hotel was looking at an uncertain future. Now we have learned that the place is indeed closing.

Woodward at Ames confirmed today that it will be shutting down, with the last day for the Court Street dining spot being either next Sunday or Monday (a poster on the Chowhound site says that it will close Sunday, while we heard that it could be Monday). In January of 2012, there were rumors going around that a real estate company was possibly going to be marketing a lease for the space, though the hotel denied that a closure was in the works at that time. Last May, it was mentioned that changes would indeed be coming at some point, as the owners of the Ames hotel were looking into reconcepting the restaurant and that this could be part of a plan to sell the property.

[May 6 update: Eater Boston has confirmed that Woodward at Ames is now closed, as yesterday was its last day in operation.]

At this point in time, it is not known what might be going into the Woodward space, so keep checking back for updates.

The address for Woodward (and the Ames hotel) is 1 Court Street, Boston, MA, 02108.
